Daniel Merriweather ft. Adele "Water and a Flame"

Daniel Merriweather who was featured on Mark Ronson's album "Version" is releasing a new album in the U.S. called "Love and War." If you remember, Merriweather lends vocals to Ronson's rendition of "The Smiths" Motown hit "Stop Me" and the two worked together on Merriweathers "Love and War." (The title is perfect!) Daniel Merriweathers voice is pure soul. One songs off the album features one of my favorites Adele, titled "Water and a Flame" I love this song it gives me the chills its so beautiful! (Well Bittersweet) The album also features a song with Wale titled "Change." Listen to a couple of my favorites from the album which will be released in the U.S. January 2010...

Water and a Flame lyrics:

Seven days has gone so fast,
I really thought the pain would pass.
It's been nearly an hour,
since I thought of you.

But your not answering the phone,
I'd settle for a busy tone,
At least that I'd know that you're okay.
A girl like you ain't meant to go away.
Oh...

Now you're gone,
Theres nothing else I want.
Now that it's over,
There's nothing else I want.
What have I done,
looks like I was wrong.
Is everything really meant to change,
I guess we're like water and a flame.
water and a flame..

Adele:
I'm tired of this empty house,
I need a drink to get me out.
A couple more til I forget your name.

I saw a boy that looked like you,
I didn't know quite what to do,
It took a power of will to break my stare.
I realized what I wanted wasn't there.

Now you're gone,
Theres nothing else I want.
Now that it's over,
There's nothing else I want.

Is everything really meant to change,
I guess we're like water and a flame.
Water and a flame...

Daniel:
If you see me coming...
Adele:
I look away, I look away...
Daniel:
And if your mind is made up...
Adele:
I look away, I will look away...

Daniel:
If your worry bound
Adele:
I'm okay, I'm okay, yes I am
Daniel:
All this sorrow and this pain,
is going to go away

Daniel & Adele:
Now you're gone,
There's nothing else I want.
Now that it's over,
There's nothing else I want.
What have I done,
looks like I was wrong.
Is everything really meant to change,
I guess we're like water and a flame.
Water and a flame..

What I'm Listening To...

John Mayer "I'm Gonna Find Another You"

It's really over, you made your stand
You got me crying, as was your plan
But when my loneliness is through, I'm gonna find another you

You take your sweaters
You take your time
You might have your reasons but you will never have my rhymes
I'm gonna sing my way away from blue
I'm gonna find another you

When I was your lover
No one else would do
If I'm forced to find another, I hope she looks like you
Yeah and she's nicer too

So go on baby
Make your little get away
My pride will keep me company
And you just gave yours all away
Now I'm gonna dress myself for two
Once for me and once for someone new
I'm gonna do somethings you wouldn't let me do
Oh I'm gonna find another you

Robin Thicke "Sex Therapy"

Check out this new (to me) song by Robin Thicke, "Sex Therapy". The beat and the vocals are HOT!...

Q-Tip ft. Norah Jones "Life Is Better"

Q-tip's album "The Renaissance" was one of my favorite albums this year. I loved the track with Norah Jones "Life is Better." I'm really glad to see he did a video for the song. I probably hear this song while I'm in stores shopping more than anything. The video is in black and white (my favorite) and is super creative. It just makes me love the song even more...

Norah Jones has a new album coming out in November entitled "The Fall" and here is the first single, "Chasing Pirates" from the album...Love her voice! Love this song! I'm especially feeling the lyrics to this song right about now...

Janelle Monae'-Come Alive (War of The Roses)

Janelle Monae' has a new song titled "Come Alive (War of the Roses)...There is no other artist at this point that leaves me speechless like Janelle Monae' does. I mean she is so talented it kills me! I love her voice and how innovative she is. I'm hearing this new song is from her new album coming out next year. You already know I'm at the edge of my seat!...

Peep the making of the song:

Listen to the full version here:

Come Alive (The War of the Roses) - Janelle Monae

Brandy singing "Somewhere Over The Rainbow"

ONE OF THE BEST SINGERS IN THE GAME PERIOD!

Check the video (If you havent seen it already)....

Leona Lewis and her new album cover...

I'm not really into Leona Lewis's music at this point but her new album cover has been floating around the Internet lately and I think she looks great! But she's very talented and beautiful, So just thought I'd post this picture because I like it! :-)

I will definately give this new album a chance...You never know so I will keep an open mind...

Whitney Performing "Million Dollar Bill" In France

Whitney looks great in this video so I had to post it! Love her new look!!!

Check it:

Mariah Carey-Ribbon

After listening to the Mariah Carey's "Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel one song stuck out to me immediately as the best song on the album. The Dream produced "Ribbon" is fun and catchy. Mariah also gets the chance to show off her vocal range at it's best. I think she sounds great on this song and I've also had it on repeat since I've had the album. Check out "Ribbon" below...

Whitney Houston- I Look To You

If it hasn't been mentioned before Whitney Houston is my FAVORITE singer of all time. She is the sole reason that I love music so much. So you can only imagine how thrilled I was when I heard that she was coming out with a new album. She is such an inspiration coming from the bottom and making it all the way back to the top...I wouldn't be her number one fan if I didn't post something on her latest album " I Look To You" which includes my favorite song of 2009 "Million Dollar Bill." If nothing else I can tell that Whitney put her heart in soul into this album. I am so happy and so proud that her album came out and it did extremely well so much to the point people are calling her the "Comeback Queen!" Check out some of her new videos below...

Michael Buble'-Haven't Met You Yet (My New Favorite Song)

I absolutely love Michael Buble's style and sound. His voice is so amazing that it gives me chills! I started my music "love affair" with Michael Buble' when I heard the song "Home"..."Another summer day has gone and come away in Paris and Rome and I wanna come home, I miss you.." The lyrics to this song completely captures the pain of missing a loved one. He's been coined as a " Big Band, Modern day Standards singer" who covers songs by legendary artist such as Frank Sinatra (i.e. Come Fly With Me,The Way You Look Tonight,That's All) and Ella Fitzgerald...SOLD!! Buble' has a new album coming out which is titled "Crazy Love" and I am "Crazy in Love"
(lol) with the first single, "Haven't Met You Yet." I like the idea of someone singing about a future love...Check out some of my favorite songs by Buble' and let me know what you think...I'm sure you will love him as much as I do!

Corinne Bailey Rae is Back...and so am I!

After a long random hiatus I'm back! And who better to bring me out of my writing slump than Corinne Bailey Rae? I checked out her website and found that she's working on some new material. She's got a slightly different look and sound. Her first album "Put Your Records On" was amazing and had a great response. It's being said that her latest effort consists of darker material. Check out the link to her video which drops hints of what we have to look forward to...I'm hearing her new album will be out early next year...

Teedra Moses- "To Hell With It"

New music popped up on the Internet today from Teedra Moses. I'm hearing that the new song "To Hell With It" could be off her new album coming out this year! I could get used to a new song coming out each week by the "Young Lioness." I recently had the pleasure of seeing Teedra Moses live just last week! Well let me just say she was AWESOME! Just as I suspected she is great live! Her voice is flawless and she is so real! You gotta love that right? She performed all my favorites from her hit "Be Your Girl" to "Backstroke" from her break out album, Complex Simplicity. She also performed some songs from her Lionhearted mixtape. Overall the show was amazing and I would definitely see her in concert again!

Take a listen to "To Hell With It"-I'm for sure feelin this one, but really what's new?

Listen for this at the beginning of the song:
"This is for you... ever so sincerely, The Young Lioness!" (I LOVE THAT!!!!)

Teedra Moses-Everybody Rock!

Oh the power of Twitter! I follow Teedra Moses on Twitter and a couple of days ago she posted a "tweet" announcing a new song called "Everybody Rock!" The songs style kind of reminds me of the last song she dropped "So Kool." I think Everybody Rock is a great song for the summer...

I got to hear Maxwell's new album "BLACKsummers'night" today! I'm hearing that it leaked on the Internet but I don't want any part of that! When the album comes out I'm going to buy my copy! We need to support this album! I'm down with the cause so I want to make sure talented artist rise to the top and get the credit they deserve. I actually listened to the new album on AOL's TheBoombox.com. They are posting a new song from the album everyday in effort to do a countdown until it drops. Let me just say that I am quite impressed with the material. OK I Love it!!! I can't wait until "Black" comes out on July 7Th! While WE wait I thought you might want to hear two of my favorite songs by Maxwell...Peep the videos below!

Mos Def - Pistola

I hope everyone has picked up their copy of Mos Def's new album "The Ecstatic." I happen to really like the album. Check out one of my favorite songs on the album "Pistola." Wait! Scratch that, it's my favorite song right now period...

Check it:

"If you were to fall in love
Where should you stand to begin with?
And when the fall is done
How bad should you plan to get injured?

And if you land on ur feet
Do it count as a fall or jump?
And do it feel like a fall when the hands that pushed you are holding you up?

Close encounters got ya wide open
Heart ace got your boom box going
Music and vocals lonely and soulful
Your back at the scene where your sweet dreams sold you…"

-Mos Def

Clipse ft. Kanye West-Kinda Like A Big Deal

Here is the new video from Clipse ft Kanye West "Kinda Like A Big Deal." I have to be honest I wasn't really into this song until I saw the video. I'm lovin Kanye's delivery on this one. I can't wait to hear the new Clipse album, "Till the Casket Drops" when it (hopefully) comes out later this year...

Alicia Keys and John Mayer

John Mayer
and Alicia Keys got together on their last two albums to collaborate on two amazing songs...Alicia's"Lesson Learned" where John Mayer lends his vocals and guitar. While in John Mayer's "Gravity" Alicia lends her vocals to the outro of the song. His guitar, her piano and both of their voices make beautiful music.

Check out two of my favorites by the duo:

Miguel is the Effin Best!

I guess it's safe to say Drake's break out hit is "Best I Ever Had" being that it's been covered by about a million other artist. To be honest with you I was getting kind of tired of it until now. My favorite underrated artist Miguel recently covered the song but put an acoustic spin on it...His voice is crazy! (in a good way)...Can I just say that I can't believe that real artist like Miguel with amazing talent such as his don't get the respect in the music industry that they deserve! Radio stations would rather play the same 4 or 5 artist who don't stand out from one another. Is it just me or does the music on the radio all sound the same to you now days?! It's so wrong on so many levels...

Lauryn Hill-Ex Factor

It could all be so simple...

Kelis...

I've always really appreciated Kelis's eclectic music style and fashion sense. With recent talk about her it had me thinking about some of her old female anthem songs... Take a look at some older pictures of Kelis along with my two favorite videos by her...

Slum Village-Tainted

Here comes a "not so random" post... I was checking out Soulbounce.com and came across Tainted, By Slum Village. Tainted was actually the first song that I heard by Slum Village back in the day. I think it might have also been the first time I heard Dwele... Well all the same it had me over here reminiscing...

"You say you love me but is really real??"

"Real love, real, real, everybody knows that love's real love
Someone to trust in you for real
Everybody need love that's real
I would never want nothin tainted
Wait a minute what you feel
Faded if your lovin was tainted
True, oh, I know true love is hard to find
Just let it find you for real
If you found love to keep it real
Keep love from being tainted, being tainted"

-Slum Village

I definitely don’t want to be one of these...

Here's Beyonce's new video for "Broken-hearted Girl". I really like the whole black and white theme Beyonce's going with this time around and If I haven't said this before every day that passes I'm lovin' Beyonce's "I am..." album more and more.

Check out the new video:

Mariah Carey-Obsessed!!!

Mariah Carey just released her new song Obsessed off her new album "Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel" (I really like the title by the way). I think the song will grow on me, I love Mariah I'm just over this whole auto tune phase. I definitely don't think that someone who has pipes like Mariah needs to go down this road but nonetheless I'm excited to hear the rest of the album! I'm practically at the edge of my seat! I mean people have been mentioning that "Memoirs" is reminiscent of Mariah's "Butterfly" album which in my opinion was her best by far. The album is set to come out August 25Th...

Check it:

Beyonce ft. Kanye West-Ego Remix

Here's the new video for Beyonce's Ego remix featuring Kanye West. I didn't know that they were going to do a video for the remix, but I like what they did with it plus I love Kanye's Verse...

Adele Covering Etta James- "Fool That I Am"

Whoa, Whoa, Whoa, What is going on in the world when I have never heard this song before? I just happened to stumble across Adele's rendition of Etta James's "Fool That I Am." This song is amazing and I can't believe that Adele covered it! Why am I ready for a new Adele album? Well I guess because her last one was GREAT!

Check out both versions...

Adele-Melt My Heart to Stone

Here's another one I felt like posting...

Adele-Melt My Heart To Stone-Live, Simply Amazing.

Nieva-These Are The Signs

I found Nieva's song "These Are The Signs" on her alter ego myspace page. I really like this side of Nieva. "These Are The Signs" is a beautiful acoustic style song which is something I've never heard from her. I've always liked Nieva's music and her voice is amazing. But I never expected to hear something like this from her. Take a listen to this, I bet you'll be surprised...

Beyonce-Me Myself and I

Me Myself and I is one of my favorite songs by Beyonce' and I love the video...Just felt like posting it so check it out..

Emily King-Second Avenue

Here is a song I found on Emily King's Myspace called Second Avenue. Her voice is simply beautiful and I really like this song. I'm just hoping this means she's working on an album although I haven't heard much talk about it...

Check it:

Joe-Worst Case Scenario

Worst Case scenario is the latest song from Joe's upcoming album entitled "Signature." I still really love Joe's voice. Everytime I hear it, it always takes me back to Junior High School. Sheesh it doesn't seem like it's been that long since Joe came out (We wont say exactly how long). Well I really like this song and it's already in heavy rotation on the ol Ipod...Joe's new album "Signature" is set to be released on July 14th.

Check it:

Drake ft. JoJo- Houstatlantavegas (remix)

JoJo is back with a remix of Drake's Houstatlantavegas. This is one of my favorite songs on the So Far Gone mixtape so it was interesting to hear JoJo's spin on it. I actually like it. Her voice is flawless. It would've been cool if they added Drake's original rap to the end of the song and make it a bit longer but hey she still sounds great. I'm hearing that her next album is complete and there's been a little static between her and her label, Blackground which is why the hold up. I've been listening to her last two albums lately and I am super excited to here more new material. Hopefully she can work things out with her label.

Here's the original version by Drake just for fun...

Amel Larrieux-Dont Let Me Down

"Your past may be rocky but your present is clear, my present situation is the sum of all my fears..."

"I've got so much on my plate I'm scared to take another bite..."

"With my hands held real tight always ready to fight for the few pieces of joy I have now..."

"Heartbreak and bullets can try to steal any good from my life, fathers and lovers have vied rivers have flowed from my eyes."

"I've never seen love face to face. I've just seen it walking away...Why do you think I'd ever recognize something that's never been mine?"

"I can't afford to be careless and let you in... I turn my head for one minute and loose everything."

You have turned on my light and I've lost my sight, but my heart still remembers the sound of the dream of a love one day found, so DON'T LET ME DOWN...

John Mayer-Working On The Next Classic...

So by way of TWITTER I've been able to keep up with John Mayer while he's been working on his next project. He's been Vblogging and Tweeting about it non stop. Now,I would be lying if I told you I wasn't very excited about this new album. The man has never come out with a bad album. Continuum was a CLASSIC hands down. I'm interested to see what direction he's going in for the new album. It seems very different from anything he's done...Hmmm only time will tell!

Kanye West and Malik Yusef ft. Common & John Legend-Magic Man

I love a good Kanye, Common and John Legend Collaboration.

Check out the new song:

Aretha Franklin-Try A Little Tenderness

Now how many of you knew that in 1962 Aretha Franklin previously recorded the 1966 popular Otis Redding song, Try a Little Tenderness? Well it turns out the song was initially recorded on December 8, 1932 by the Ray Noble Orchestra (with vocals by Val Rosing) AND Ruth Etting and Bing Crosby in 1933. Although the song was made famous by Redding and is a classic version, who better to cover the song than the Queen herself? If you've never heard this version you most DEFINITELY need to listen. It's simply beautiful....

MAXWELL- PRETTY WINGS

Today is a very good day in the music world!! Maxwell's first single, Pretty Wings from his much anticipated Black Summer's Night has been released. I've been listening to the snippet of this song off Maxwell's myspace page since 2007. I love the song and love the video even more. The first installment from Maxwell's trilogy Black Summer's Night will be released July 7Th! I can't wait to be able to pop his album into the CD player and be able to listen to the whole thing straight through. From what I'm hearing there will be Three Cd's "Black" released in 2009, "Summer" in 2010 and "Night" released in 2011! All I can say is YES!!!!!!

New music has surfaced from Ryan Leslie. Still trying to figure out where this song came from but If he's thinking about coming out with another album sometime soon, I would be OK with that. His latest album is great! It feels like a summer album to me. The new song, Gonna Let This Luv is very similar to the feel on his latest self titled album. I'm definitely feelin' this track.

90's Artist I Miss...PART I- Chico Debarge

On a day like today when I feel "quality music deprived" I cant help but reminisce of a time when good R&B music was dominating the music world...Ahhh the 90's... First person that comes to mind is Chico Debarge (brother to my 80's crush El Debarge).. I've heard some new material floating around the Internet and although I'm hopeful, there will always be a special place in my heart for his 90's albums, the 1997 hit, "Long Time No See"(a classic in my opinion) and the 1999 "Game." And yes I still own both.

Check out several of my favorites...

Teedra Moses Covers Yearning By The Gap Band

Teedra Moses recently performed in DC. During the show she covered one of the Gap Band's Songs, "Yearning." Now this is every exciting for me! I'm speechless!!!

The Bird and The Bee-My new Favorite Group

So I know I'm Kind of late but I love, love, love The Bird and the Bee!!! They are an amazing male female duo from Los Angeles. The group is considered Indie/Pop/Rock with a definite Jazz feel.

Cassie Ft. P.Diddy- Must Be Love..

Here is the new song from Cassie Ft. P. Diddy- Must Be Love. I'm kind of digging this song... Listen, let me know what you think.

A True Beauty

I love that Beyonce' went natural on the new cover of Vogue.

On a side and more important note:

When I first heard Beyonce's new album "I Am" I felt it was quality music but I didn't feel like it appealed to me as a Beyonce' fan. I guess I was looking for more of the classic "sad love songs" or type of music from "Dangerously in Love" and "B-Day." I'm just going to ahead and say that I was feeling a little disappointed. BUT after a couple of months of listening to the album it really started to grow on me. To the point that I really feel that it is one of her best lyrically and vocally. A couple of my favorite songs on " I am" are Disappear (which pulls at the strings of my heart) and That's Why Your Beautiful.

My question to you is, How do you feel about "I Am" and what are your favorite songs on the album??

Christina Milian-"Us Against The World"

Here's Christina Milan's new video for "Us Against The World." (Just in case you haven't already seen it). Let me just say I HATE love anthems. They just seem so corny to me. This song isn't even empowering. It falls a little flat for me. I know Christina can do better and on that note I'm anxious to see what Christina M. does on her new album...

Peep....

Here's some throwback Christina M. Dip it low.. Man this reminds me of a couple of summers ago...

Beyonce' Honors Barbara Streisand

This is just about the prettiest song I've heard in a while. I know I'm super late, late but Beyonce' honored Barbara Streisand with her rendition of Streisand's classic, "The Way We Were" I love the original and I love to hear Beyonce' sing this.
