J.Cole "Friday Nigh Lights" Mixtape

I have been having a hard time posting on this mixtape because I literally love every track on it. I've been playing it non stop, at work and at home. J.Cole is so talented and with every mixtape I feel his delivery gets stronger. Every time I play the Warm up, The Come up and now Friday Night Lights he is steadily becoming my personal favorite up and coming rapper. With this mixtape he had me at "Hello" sampling Aaliyah, Janelle Monae' and also the great E.Badu along with some old school soul samples. It is impossible for me to mention my favorite songs off this mixtape because I honestly can't choose. This is the way it is supposed to be! There are 20 songs on this mixtape and how is possible that every song is great? Pure and true talent is the only way I can describe it. Download the Friday Night Lights mixtape and listen to history being made...

Jamie Foxx Ft. Drake "Fall For Your Type"

I was so excited to hear that Jamie Foxx's new album, "Best night of my life" is scheduled to come out sooner than I originally heard, December 21st! I just heard the second single off the album "Fall For Your Type" featuring Drake. I heard Drake's version a few months ago and loved it, and now that Jamie has revealed his version I'm super excited for the album. I'm so used to Jamie Foxx collaborating on R&B tracks with Tank that I didn't know what to think of this pairing. I also know anything Drake is on is usually a hit so I guess it goes without saying that this song is pretty awesome. What I love the most is Drake's verse and of course Jamie's vocals are on point as usual. Can't wait to hear the album... Listen to the track below and let me know what you think of it...

"I'ma take you anywhere you want to go, let you meet my friends so they can lecture me again about how reckless I have been."-Drake

Miguel- All I Want Is You Album Reveiw

I've been following Miguel's career since I first heard the song "Sure Thing" on Myspace a few years ago. As far back as when he used the name "Miguel Jontel." Miguel has already established himself as a writer working with the likes of Usher and Musiq Soulchild and now it appears he's trying his hand at mainstream success. If you've followed my blog for a while you know I believe Miguel is THE best male vocalist out today. I'm so glad that he has found success with his first single "All I want is you" featuring J.Cole. The song is amazing but if it's the first song that you've ever heard by Miguel trust me it's just the tip of the iceberg. This man has vocal talent that I haven't heard in an artist in a long while. It only makes it better that he happens to be such a great writer. The song "Sure Thing which I've posted on before capitalizes on Miguels vocal talent and writing ability all in one.

His new album named after the first single, is a mixture of songs from his Mischief Mixtape and a few new tracks, which I assume he added for the fans that have been following him from the beginning and are now anxious for new material. At first I was a bit thrown by the fact that he added so many of the older tracks off the mixtape. (Well I guess they are old to me). But after I discussed this with @SheistheB, another long time fan and fellow blogger. She mentioned how it was actually very smart of him to add them because they are the songs that gave him such a strong underground following and definitely have the potential to make this mainstream album a huge success.

My favorite new songs off the album are: "Girl With the Tattoo,Teach Me,Hard Way and My Piece." (Which you can listen to below). On the new album Miguel continues to display his vocal talents and energetic sound. The album consist of all the things which should make it a true hit because every song on the album is pure perfection. One thing that the R&B world has been lacking is Miguel, he is truly a breath of fresh air. The album is out on November 30th, please pick up a copy and support GREAT TALENT!

Keyshia Cole-Long Way Down

I can always count on Keyshia cole to deliver soulful love/heartbreak songs. Her vocal arrangements are always so heartfelt that you can't help to relate to whatever she's singing about. Her second single from "Calling All Hearts" is "Long Way Down." I think this is a sweet song and I love the video because her boo is in it..:-p, I'm happy for Keyshia Cole. I can't wait to hear the album!

Kid Cudi-Man on the Moon 2 Legend of Mr. Rager

It's so hard to pick just one or two songs to recommend off the new Kid Cudi album "Man on the Moon 2." This new album is great front to back. It's one of those albums that you can listen to from beginning to end on repeat. So as hard as it was I picked my three favorite songs...(Don't Play This Song, Ghost! and Mojo So Dope). Check out the songs below, and pick up this man's album its pretty amazing! :-)

Kanye West FT. John Legend- Blame Game

All of the good music released this month has been overwhelming! I've been so behind for the last few weeks that I feel obligated to pass on a few of my favorite tracks to those that have been living under that same rock...

Mr. West has been behind our over abundance of great music for the last couple of months. What would music be without that guy? He is a genius and has graciously used his talent to bring some of the best music out this year to our ears. I would have to say that Kanye's new "My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy" is an amazing album which touches on his ever most deep and dark thoughts and twisted fantasies. Its hard to describe in words what only Yeezy so eloquently does through his music. So I suggest if you haven't heard the album you should definitely pick it up on Tuesday and hear it for yourself...(It will be worth the money trust me).

If you are a Kanye fan or even if you aren't he will make you a believer. One of my favorite songs on the album is "Blame Game" featuring John Legend who Kanye often collaborates with. The song starts off with John Legends soulful sound followed by the piano. I can't decide what is better the beat or they Lyrics. I think both complement each other and the song's lyrics are reminiscent of "Flashing Lights" but on a deeper level. I mean who can imagine a better LOVE-HATE song than "Flashing Lights?" Well it appears that Kanye has out done himself this time. If you don't do anything else today, listen to this song but most importantly LISTEN to the lyrics. These lyrics are more familiar to me now and I'm sure at some point and some place you can relate. (Lyrics Below)

"I'd rather argue with you than be with someone else"

Kanye West – Blame Game Lyrics
[John Legend]
Let’s play the blame game, I love you, more
Let’s play the blame game for sure.
Let’s call her names, names, I hate you, more.
Let’s call her names, names, for sure.
I’ll call you bitch for sure
As a last resort, and my first resort
You call me motherf-cker for long,
at the end of it you know we both were wrong.

But I love to play the blame game, I love you more.
Let’s play the blame game for sure.
Let’s call her names, names, I hate you, more.
Let’s call her names, names, for sure.

[Kanye West]
On a bathroom wall I wrote
“I’d rather argue with you than to be with someone else” (else, else, else)
I took a piss and dismiss it and went and found somebody else
arguing harvesting the feelings, I’d rather be by my f-cking self
till about 2am and I call back and I hang up and start to blame myself
somebody help

[Chorus - John Legend]

[Kanye West]
You weren’t perfect but you made life worth it
stick around, real feelings might surface
been a long time since I spoke to you in a bathroom gripping you up and choking you
what the hell was I supposed to do
I know you aint getting this type of d-ck from that local dude
and if you are I hope you are have a good time
cause I definitely be having mine

and you aint finna see a mogul get emotional
every time I hear bout other n-gga’s stroking you
might say I hit you
he sitting there consoling you
threw the money, threw the mud
who’s provoking you
you should be grateful a n-gga like me even knows you
now you noticeable and cant nobody can control you
1am and can’t nobody get a hold of you
I’m calling your brothers phone like what was I supposed to do
even though I knew, he never told the truth
he was just gon say whatever you gon told him too
at a certain point I had to stop asking questions
chuck dirt on eachother like mud wrestlers
I heard he bought some coke with my money
dat aint right girl
you getting blackmailed for that white girl
lyrics courtesy of www.killerhipohp.com
you always said Yeezy I aint you’re right girl
probably find one of them “I like art” type girls
all of the lights, she was caught in the hype girl
and I was satisfied being in love with the lights
and who to blame, you to blame, me to blame
for the pain and it poured everytime it rained
lets play the blame game…

[John Legend]
Let’s play the blame game, I love you, more
Let’s play the blame game for sure.

[Kanye West]
Things used to be, now they not
anything but us is who we are
disguising ourselves as secret lovers
we’ve become public enemies
we walk away like strangers in the street
gon for eternity
we erased one another
so far from where we came
with so much of everything, how do we leave with nothing
lack of visual empathy equates the meaning of L-O-V-E
hatred and attitude tear us entirely

Let’s play the blame game, I love you, more
Let’s play the blame game for sure.
Let’s call her names, names, I hate you, more.
Let’s call her names, names, for sure.

I can’t love you this much
I can’t love you this much
I can’t love you this much
I can’t love you this much
no, I can’t love you this much
I can’t love you this much

and I know that you are somehwere doing your thing
and when the phone called it just ring and ring
you aint pick up but your phone accidently called me back
and I heard the whole thing.
I heard the whole thing, the whole thing, the whole thing…

Corinne Bailey Rae "Is This Love"

I want to know how this song slipped passed me??? Corinne Bailey Rae's version of Bob Marley's "Is this Love" is so beautiful.I just heard this song on Pandora a few weeks ago and I've been playing it non stop, this is the exact reason I can get enough of her music! I think you have to be careful when remaking a classic but I would say she does the song the justice it deserves. What do you think??
