Common ft. Ceelo-Make My Day

It seems like new music is leaking from Common's new album Universal Mind Control with the release coming up next week. So I've heard about 5 different songs from the album and I really like it. It just seems like his material is getting stronger and stronger with each new album. Not to say that old school Common didn't produce strong material but it was definitely different but in a good way. I'm really excited to hear the new album next week. If it's anything like the music I've been hearing on the web I know its going to be awesome.

Brandy- Long Distance Video

I wouldn't normally like a song like this but Brandy pretty much does no wrong in my book. The vocals on this song are crazy. I just love the vocal arrangement. The Long Distance video was directed By Chris Robinson. Brandy's new album Human is set to drop next week on December 9th!!

Young Jeezy ft. Pharrell Williams- Rumor Has It

Young Jeezy + Pharrell Williams + a Neptunes beat = AMAZING!!! This song is freakin awesome. This is a colabo that I didn't see coming but none the less needed to happen.

Common ft. Kanye West- Punch Drunk Love

The Neptunes produced "Punch Drunk Love," by Common ft. Kanye West recently leaked. Punch Drunk Love is off Common's upcoming album "Universal Mind Control." Ever since I got my hands on the track listing I've been literally on the edge of my seat to hear it. Based off the name of the song and the people involved I knew it would be hot! I'm lovin this song.I love the production, how could you ever go wrong with the Neptunes? I can't wait to hear more. Common's, Universal Mind Control" hits store December 9th.

Here is Beyonce's performance on The American Music Awards. This girl really is fierce! I know it must be hard to pull off a performance like that and sing in tune. What is really killing me right now are these men (Ne-Yo and The-Dream) writing female anthems. It kind of makes me a little uncomfortable. How about you?

Here is the new video from Jamie Foxx ft. T.I.-Just Like Me. Although I already liked the song the video made me like it even more. It's hilarious watching Jamie Foxx compete with actress Taraji P. Henson (Hustle & Flow, The Family That Preys)with everything from Guitar Hero to a Hot dog eating contest. Jaime's "Intuition" is set to hit stores December 16th.

I was a little disappointed with Ne-Yo's latest album, "Year of the Gentlemen." I guess I just expected more based off of his last two albums along with the material he's being writing for other artists such as Beyonce'. Although I'm not really into his most recent single, "Mad" I do like the video.

Well this is the first and only song I've ever really liked by Rihanna. Timbaland does it again! He never fails. I've had this song on repeat for like months now so finally seeing a video is pretty exciting. I'm not too sure what the video has to do with the song (or maybe it's going over my head?) But I'm loving Rihanna's wardrobe and the Justin Timberlake eye candy...

THE FIRST AFRICAN AMERICAN PRESIDENT!! BARACK OBAMA!

THIS IS THE MOST AMAZING THING EVER! I have never cried tears of joy in my life. Obama is the first African American President!I have followed this man's career in politics for years and I am proud to say that he has proven that through hope and hard work anything is possible. What a wonderful inspiration to all! He has turned me into a positive person that believes I do or be anything that I set my mind to! I know that he is going to turn our country around and everyday I wake up I feel like we have made such progress as a country. All I can say is I am so HOPEFUL for the future...

Jon B. "Helpless Romantic"

This man NEVER disappoints! I have every single one of Jon B.'s albums and they are always amazing. Jon B's latest effort, "Helpless Romantic" is a pure R&B album, and is pretty good from beginning to end. The vocals on this album are out of this world. One of my favorite song's on the album is "In Too Deep," which appears to tell the story of women who has been through some bad relationships, and he (Jon B.) is going to be the man to make up for all the bad experiences and all the times she was left crying. I love that! Call me corny but that is the sweetest thing ever.

It really sucks because this album didn't see the promotions and marketing that it needed but I just want to spread the word that this is a great album with quality music. If you are into R&B then you will appreciate this album. It is on repeat in my car!

A Plea to Whitney Houston

Whitney Houston owns the rights to one of my favorite movies, the 1976 film "Sparkle." I believe several years ago she was in a bidding war with Halle Berry to get the movie. I would've been happy to see either one of them produce the movie as long as it didn't end up some Lifetime special or something. The movie stars Irene Cara(Flashdance Soundtrack,Fame), Lonette McKee(Cotton Club, ATL), Phillip Michael Thomas(Miami Vice) Dwan Smith, Mary Alice, Dorian Harewood, and Tony King. Curtis Mayfield worked as the composer and producer of Sparkle's songs and score. While Aretha Franklin added her vocals to the soundtrack. "Sparkle" is an amazing movie based on a family of women and their music career. The music is awesome in this movie and it happens to include Aretha Franklin's- "Somethin He Can feel," which was sampled by EnVouge and the performances in the movie inspired a scene in "School Daze". Before Aaliyah passed away she was set to play the leading role in the movie. Which I felt she would've been perfect for. It really breaks my heart that we didn't get to see her in the movie because I believe she would've done an great job. Since the passing of Aaliyah there has been talk that the producers were talking to Ashanti and Raven Simone to play the leading role. Not a good idea. I can understand why almost every songstress/actress wants to be in this movie but how do you go from Aaliyah to Asanti? First of all I don't think she has the chops or the acting ability to play this part. I feel like it's an insult to the movie. As far as Raven Simone goes, I love the girl. I think she awesome but not right for the part at all. Now people are talking about the fact that the producers have scratched the first two choices and are approaching Jordan Sparks to play Sparkle. I know this girl can sing but she just isn't right for the part in my opinion. My suggestion for this role would be Alicia Keys. I realize that she only has a couple of movies under her belt but I think she would be incredible for the part. I'm so nervous about this, just as I was about "Dreamgirls." But I think they did it the right way, casting Beyonce' in the lead role because she is a huge star and she is equally talented. I believe that because their voices are so similar, she could even play Lonette Mckee's part as "Sister." My plea to Whitney Houston and the producers of "Sparkle" is that they PLEASE consider Alicia Keys for this part....

On a side note, I've also heard that they've approached Chris Brown for the part of Stix, one of the male leading roles in the movie. Now that's exciting!!!

I mentioned before that I really liked Estelle's first album. "Come Over" featuring Sean Paul was one of the songs that made the album so great. I would describe it as a really great summer album.

Love,Tweet will be released on DECEMBER 9th 2008! As most know Tweet is one of my absolute favorite artist. So very underrated that it hurts. But anyway, it's bittersweet that I must wait a little over a month until her third studio album drops but I'm sure it will be well worth the wait. November and December are jam packed with album releases. Now all I need is for Teedra Moses to announce she's dropping an album soon!...Just wishful thinking. :-)

Check out "Crusin" by Tweet. This song leaked a while ago, and I'm hoping this is the tone of the album. Not sure it this song made it on the album.

Aside from her amazing voice and talent what I love about Christina Aguilera is she's constantly changing her look. I love these new promo pictures, very edgy! Christina has a new album coming out November 11th titled,'Keeps Gettin' Better - A Decade Of Hits.' Which includes songs from her last three albums along with a couple new tracks. I hope she follows this with a new album with some NEW material because like many of you Christina fans, I have all of her albums!

BEY-SOL Tour!!!

This is big folks! Beyonce' and Solange will be touring together next year! That's exciting! I know me and my girls will be there. The tour will consist of 110 dates which will make stops in Europe, the U.S (with a one week stop in Las Vegas)Canada, Mexico, South America, Japan, Africa, and Australia.

Beyonce's double disc "I Am..." drops November 18th!!

On a side note I've been hearing so much about these Minx nails that Beyonce' and Solange have been wearing for a while now! I know Beyonce' was on 106 and Park last week, showing off her custom made OBAMA design! (I've also seen Solange and Eve wearing this design as well) Minx nails are being considered an alternative to nail polish, and are made from flexible film strips. They are becoming popular among the ladies in Hollywood mostly because they don't chip! Now that has me SOLD! I have to see this to believe it!

Beyonce- At Last

I feel like every other post is about Beyonce, but she is everywhere right now! I love it! Check out Beyonce's rendition of the Etta James classic "At Last." I personally like it, I can tell she took her time with this one. Of course no one will ever perform this song like Etta James but Bey's version definitely doesn't tarnish the original. I can't wait to see Cadillac Records I know I say this all the time but I love movies about music legends...

Cadillac Records is in theaters December 15th...

OK so here is another artist I discovered just by frequently shopping in ol Forever 21. I kid you not every time I go in that place Gabriella Cilmi's hit single "Sweet About Me" is playing. Gabriella Cilmi is an Australian Pop/Blues/Rock artist who is getting much attention due to none other than actual talent! She list her influences as artist like The Doors, Norah Jones, Prince, The Beatles, Roberta Flack, The Fugees and Nina Simone to name more than a few. I guess she's already being compared to Amy Winehouse which is expected. Their voices are similar but the HUGE difference in them is that Amy Winehouse's style is pure soul where Gariella is more Pop/Rock to me. Gabriella's album "Lesson's To Be Learned" is in stores now.

John Legend and Brandy on one track is like a dream come true to me. They both have amazing voices and putting them on the track "Quickly" together was simply a great idea. With both of them droping albums this year this should be great for record sales. I love this song and definately feel it should be a single. We need quality music like this in rotation!

Beyonce' News!!

Bey is still working on her world domination! She's got two new movies coming out soon. One being, "Cadillac Records" which also stars Adrian Brody and Jeffrey Wright. In "Cadillac Records" Beyonce' portrays legend, Etta James. I love movies based on music legends (The Temptations, The Jackson Story, What's Love Got To Do With It and well I'm not sure if it counts but The Five Heartbeats). I'm sure this is going to be an awesome movie but I'm even more excited about the soundtrack which drops on December 4Th! (Believe it or not but I have the "Dreamgirls" soundtrack)... She will also star in the movie "Obsession" along with a brand new album for your listening pleasure! I'm so excited about it! :-)

T-Pain Go Girl premiered today and all jokes aside I really like this video. I think it's pretty creative. She is definitely off to a good start...

Spoiler alert! OK I'll admit that I was expecting to see Jazmine actually "Bustin some windows" in this video but I guess that was little to literal, I'm actually a little disappointed that she didn't. That would've given the song that Women's anthem "Seal of Approval" but oh well. I like the overall direction of the video. For what it's worth "Bust Your Windows" is one of my fav's of 2008.

Oh Swoon...

Common covers the new issue of the 944 magazine. I can't wait for his new album to drop in November. I was hyped when he announced he would be releasing the album in the summer and on top of that he was calling it Invincible Summer. Now that its been pushed back, well I'm still pretty excited. I cant wait to see what he has in store for us. I know he mostly worked with Pharell and Kanye on this album so that makes it certified quality in my opinion. So many great albums coming out this Fall! I can't wait!!!

THANK YOU!! Its official November 18th!! I can't believe she has recorded over 70songs! Hmmm...makes me wonder. I hope it's a double CD! B-day was a little short on tracks in my opinion. I already know this album is going to be one of the best of the year but her letter just makes it even more exciting. To all the Beyonce' fans, the countdown begins!!!
